2022 Advocate of the Year – Nominee #2

ADVOCATE OF THE YEAR

NOMINEE #2 – Laurie Munoz

Laurie has been a go getter since day one. She regularly goes above and beyond for the children she serves and visits in-person more than required. She does not let distance, or anything slow her down. On top of regular in-person visits, she is always in constant contact with her teen girl helping her through tough times, talking her through issues at school or in placement, or just checking in to say “Hi”. Many times, when a need or a concern has arisen in her case, she has used her voice and continued to address the issue with CPS and at court until that need has been met. Additionally, she has been great about talking to the child’s counselors and teachers to help create the best learning and living environment for her child to thrive.

Laurie makes sure not only to encourage her teen to do her best but also celebrates milestones. She recently sent a congratulation card when the young lady achieved a goal at her Residential Treatment Center. It has been heartwarming to see how her child has connected with and values Laurie.

On top of all of this, Laurie is in the office almost weekly for our staff & advocate lunch gathering, to attend in-services or to meet with her supervisor. We are also always impressed by her thorough case documentation and court testimony, and are generally always very impressed by Laurie all-together!
