DID YOU KNOW
- Last year (2024), there were 53,543 confirmed new victims of child abuse or neglect in Texas
- Last year, there were 28,008 child victims of abuse and neglect in the custody of CPS in the state of Texas. Of those, 111 were from Walker, San Jacinto, & Trinity Counties
- In the last year alone, CASA of Walker, San Jacinto, & Trinity Counties has provided service to 115 child victims of abuse/neglect

GO BLUE DAY
Friday, April 4, 2025, is the official Go Blue Day for Texas and thousands of Texans will wear blue, the official color of prevention, to show their support for ending child abuse. Wear CASA Blue on that day, and encourage your friends, family, and colleagues to do the same!
PINWHEEL PLANTING & proclamations
Join us at the Walker County Courthouse on Friday, April 4th at 9am, and we’ll “plant” pinwheels around the courthouse flower beds to be displayed throughout the month. In addition, CASA is partnering with the San Jacinto County Child Welfare Board to set up a Child Abuse Prevention Month display and plant pinwheels on the courthouse lawn in Coldspring on Monday, March 31st at 10am. Lastly, we’ll be joining Kalin’s Center in Trinity County on Tuesday, April 8th at 12pm for a proclamation ceremony at the Trinity County Courthouse in Groveton. We hope to see you there!
PINWHEEL PROJECT
Have you seen blue pinwheels at our office or around town somewhere? The pinwheel is recognized as the national symbol for child abuse prevention. “Pinwheels for Prevention” serves as a reminder of the safe and great childhoods we want for all children! CASA Storytimes
The Public Libraries in our three counties have partnered with CASA to hold Children Story Times with CASA staff being the guest readers to help share about Child Abuse Prevention Awareness to our children and families. We will be at Trinity Public Library on Tuesday, April 8th at 4:30 pm. You can join us at the Coldspring Public Library on Friday, April 11th at 10:30 am. Lastly, we will at the Huntsville Public Library on Monday, April 28th at 5pm. We hope to see you there!
BLUE SUNDAY
Blue Sunday is an annual event where churches pray for the victims of child abuse and those who care for them. Originally starting with 20 churches, Blue Sunday has grown into an international effort with more than 2 million participants. This year’s Blue Sunday is on April 27, 2025, and our CASA program will be partnering with churches in Walker, San Jacinto, & Trinity Counties to not only spread awareness of Child Abuse Prevention Month but also share with members of the faith community how they can get involved with CASA.
