THE July ADVOCATE OF THE MONTH IS:
Gigi Clayton!
Gigi is one of the most generous people you will ever meet. She is always finding ways to support her CASA children as well as the CASA staff and other advocates. These and many other reasons are why we are honored to name Gigi as our July Advocate of the Month!
This month, Gigi will celebrate her 4th Anniversary as a CASA Advocate. She has served multiple children and cases over those years and is currently she is serving a teenage girl. When given the opportunity, Gigi was quick to take on this case and dove right in making phone contact weekly (and more at times). Even though this is a new age group for her to work with, you would not know it by how she has advocated and shown up for this child.
When it came time for her child to be moved (on less than a day’s notice), Gigi hopped in the car with the child and the caseworker to drive two and half hours one way to help her get settled into her placement. To further help her teen feel comfortable and supported, Gigi made another trip the following week. While there, she met with fictive kin so that she could better know and understand other members of the child’s support system. Gigi has worked to help her teen feel beautiful in her own skin, gain self-confidence, and encouraged her through difficulties.
Gigi’s giving heart does not stop with her CASA children, but it extends to all areas of the CASA program. She is often at the office checking in with her supervisor and asking what else she can do to help. She has been a big part of the Amplifying Advocacy committee and is always attending CASA outings or events. We are so grateful for Gigi’s selflessness and giving heart and we’re looking forward to another great year of advocacy!
