School’s out and summer has officially arrived for most Texas kids! While summer brings carefree evenings, camp adventures, and swimming pool fun, for many youth who face instability, summer can highlight everything they lack – structure, support, and safety. Without the routine and connections created through school, at-risk youth often face food insecurity, loneliness, and emotional stress. While classmates are headed out on family vacation, many children face a long summer of isolation and inconsistent access to safe and enriching opportunities.
This is where we step in.
CASA volunteers play a crucial role in helping to create a safe and happy summer for kids in foster care. They work behind the scenes to connect kids with enriching programs, secure funding for activity fees, help keep food on the table for families who are struggling financially, or simply prioritize spending more time with the children served, making sure these children feel valued, seen, and loved. Advocates go the extra mile to be present for kids in these challenging months and they make sure kids always know they have someone to talk to! Advocating for these children through these summer months is our opportunity to help kids thrive and we’re grateful to be part of this season of their life!
Be Part of the Change
No one likes to talk about kids experiencing trauma. It’s uncomfortable and it’s simply easier to look away. But EVERY child deserves a summer that feels safe, special, and full of possibilities! The compassion of our dedicated advocates ensures that the youth we serve experience a safe and healthy summer, and ensures our kids feel seen, heard, and treasured for every day of their time with us!
You can be part of the change, too!
