ADVOCATE OF THE YEAR

NOMINEE #4 Karl mahaffey

Karl is a dynamic advocate. Since his start with CASA in September of 2021, he has been assigned to 2 cases. After his first one closed, it was his plan to take a break but stated that he was open to accepting another if the need should arise. Not even 2 weeks later, the need arose, and Karl was there to accept a rather difficult case.

The way Karl approaches his cases is so consistent and evenhanded. He leaves no stone unturned all the while keeping the best interest of the child in mind. In both cases, Karl has worked closely with the parents to aid in reunification. His most recent case has had him going to the home of the parents weekly, if not more. In addition, he never misses an in person visit with either of the 3 children in this case, who are all in separate placements. If that doesn’t speak to his greatness, Karl is also very skilled when it comes to giving testimony in court. It is apparent to all that he has gone through great efforts to gather information so his opinion is relied on heavily by many.

We can’t brag on Karl enough. Advocates like him are truly the backbone of our organization, we are so grateful for all of the time he devotes to his case and the impact he is making in the lives of the families we serve.
