THE JULY ADVOCATE OF THE MONTH IS:
Brenda Burns!
It’s time to celebrate our July Advocate of the Month! Although she speaks with a soft southern drawl, Brenda Burns is a real firecracker! She wastes no time accomplishing necessary tasks and attacks challenges head-on. Brenda is thorough and meticulous when it comes to record keeping and always submits important documents in a timely manner. She’s not afraid to ask hard questions and relentlessly pursues the answers.
Brenda is currently carrying two cases, serving a total of three children ranging in age from 15 months to 8 years. She is an unwavering source of support for the caregivers and faithfully visits the children monthly. Brenda also attempts to build a relationship with the parents and extended family members to aid the goal of family reunification. Caseworkers and attorneys respect her and voice their appreciation for the hard work she pours into her cases.
In addition to providing stellar advocacy, Brenda has served on the San Jacinto County Outreach committee for CASA. She regularly attends in-services and independently acquires continuing education hours. Brenda is always quick to lend a hand and endeavors to support CASA at every opportunity.
Advocates like Brenda are the backbone of our program, and it is because of them that we can serve the most vulnerable in our community. Brenda is a shining example of an advocate who is helping change the trajectory of a family’s life. The world needs more change agents like Brenda Burns and we at CASA are proud to serve alongside her.
