Leigh Ann Kovalcik
Leigh Ann is committed to being an amazing CASA Advocate and deeply cares about fulfilling the CASA mission. Although she’s only been assigned to her first case for 2 months, she is a force of nature when it comes to those she cares about, and it shows in her role. As a retired principle and administrator, she has a heart for those that need someone to lead and encourage them to be their best self. She is known by those around her to think of others before she even thinks of herself. She is detailed and organized in all she does, which makes her the perfect fit for her case.
In her current case, Leigh Ann has been a consistent and guiding light for a 15-year-old girl without a placement and special needs. With her educational background and devoted spirit, we knew she was the CASA this child needed to be able to grow. She is there for her every need and more. Leigh Ann is dedicated to going to her meetings, standing up for her in court, and taking care of her educational requirements, all while remaining a constant in her life. Finding resources for older youth with special needs can be a daunting task, but Leigh Ann took this on without fear. She’s dedicated to finding her a place where she can thrive and have a village of people to support her. She is also in constant contact with many of the agencies involved with her case and always doing research to bring more knowledge in supporting this child’s situation.
Leigh Ann has proven over and over already that she will be the stability in this young girl’s life and will walk along with her on this journey wherever it ends up. While others might be scared or stand off because of the intensity of this teen girl’s needs and reactions, Leigh Ann has only leaned in on the goal of connection and making sure she feels heard and seen. She doesn’t define this young girl by her past trials, but sees her as an intelligent, kind young lady who needs someone in her corner. Leigh Ann exceeds the expectations of those around her without even thinking about it. She is a firm believer that every child should have someone who supports their needs, but you can trust that Leigh Ann is going to do her due diligence in making sure this teen has more than just one person in her life.
