THE NOVEMBER ADVOCATE OF THE MONTH IS:
LESLEY KNAPPEN

We are deeply honored to recognize Lesley Knappen as our November Advocate of the Month. For the past three years, Lesley has been a steadfast source of support, compassion, and guidance for her CASA teen. Through multiple placement changes and challenging circumstances, she has remained a constant and reliable presence, visiting him multiple times a month no matter how many miles she must travel. Lesley’s dedication extends far beyond the requirements of her role. She consistently shows up with open arms and an open heart.
Recently, during a difficult moment when her teen faced a behavioral consequence, he hesitated to tell her, fearing she might not come back. Like many of the children we serve, they have a fear of rejection and being left. Lesley’s immediate response was to reassure him that nothing would change their regular Sunday visits and that she would always be there. True to her words, she showed up, as she always does. Lesley exemplifies the very essence of CASA advocacy, unwavering commitment, compassion, and consistency. She doesn’t seek attention for the miles she drives or the effort she puts in; for her, what truly matters is being there when her teen boy needs her most. She provides the perfect balance of gentle encouragement and firm guidance, embodying the unconditional love and stability that every young person deserves.
We are continually inspired by Lesley’s ability to be both a source of comfort and accountability, offering her teen the gift of trust and reliability, something that can make all the difference in a young person’s life. Thank you, Lesley, for showing us all what it means to “show up” and be present, patient, and persistent in the face of challenges. Your dedication reflects the very heart of CASA’s mission, and we are so grateful for the light and hope you bring to the life of your CASA teen.
