THE SEPTEMBER ADVOCATE OF THE MONTH IS:
Susan Brown
We are honored to congratulate Susan Brown as our September Advocate of the Month! Susan has been an advocate for two years and is currently assigned to a case with four children. Susan has proved an incredible level of dedication, compassion, and commitment to her CASA kids throughout every step of her current case.
Though there have been moments throughout of twists and turns, ups and downs, she has been focused on what she can do to best serve her CASA kids and help them thrive no matter the circumstances. She has spent countless hours speaking with all the parties involved in her case, therapists, doctors, teachers, and more to ensure she has all the information she needs to advocate for the four children in her case. With lots of contact comes lots of documentation. Susan is very detail oriented and thorough, which is an important skill not only for documentation but also in court reports and her court testimony. She always ensures everyone has all the information and knows the full picture before decisions are made.
Susan’s commitment to her advocacy goes beyond meetings, phone calls, and documentation. She has been a steady presence in all four CASA children’s lives from birthday parties, monthly visits, holidays, doing crafts, and coloring together. During more difficult moments in their lives, Susan has provided encouragement and support when they needed. Susan cares deeply for her CASA children and is continually researching new opportunities for healing and growth for them. She meets each new path with a genuine desire to find the best way forward for her CASA kids. Her background in education gives her unique insight into what her children need both inside and outside of the classroom. Susan’s empathy, compassion, and willingness to always go the extra mile is what truly means to be a CASA. We are so incredibly grateful to have Susan alongside us serving as an Advocate for the ones who need it most.
