THE OCTOBER ADVOCATE OF THE MONTH IS:
CORI MOONEY

We are honored to congratulate Cori Mooney as our October Advocate of the Month! Although Cori is newer to the CASA program, she has already made leaps and bounds in her case and with supporting the ongoing needs of her CASA child.
Cori is assigned to a baby boy who entered care without an official birth certificate or legal name on file, creating several challenges in meeting his basic needs. Without hesitation, Cori stepped in to help navigate these obstacles. She tracked down the alleged father to ensure he was informed of court dates and provided support and guidance to the parents during what has been a confusing and overwhelming time. Cori worked diligently to locate the mother and other family members to help complete the necessary paperwork for his birth certificate. She even accompanied the parents to their DNA testing appointment, offering a familiar and supportive presence while helping ensure they understood and completed the necessary steps.
Beyond these efforts, Cori has been diligent in locating medical records, coordinating daycare arrangements despite the challenges created by the missing birth certificate, and advocating for her CASA child’s ongoing needs. She consistently attends court hearings to keep the Judge informed of progress, updates, and any additional needs that must be addressed. Cori has become a reassuring presence for both the child, the caregiver, and the parents during a difficult and uncertain season. Through her persistence, compassion, and willingness to go the extra mile, Cori is helping create stability for this little boy while ensuring his needs remain at the forefront. We are incredibly grateful for Cori’s heart for advocacy and the difference she is already making. Congratulations, Cori, on being our October Advocate of the Month!
