Advocate of the Month – June 2019

The JuNE Advocate of the Month is:

Alex Estes!

June’s advocate of the month is recognized not only for her commitment to her CASA children, but also for her dedication to the overall success of the CASA program. She has served as a CASA since September and in her short 9 months with CASA has already made an impact to last a lifetime!

As an advocate, Alex is ‘all in’ when it comes to her children and their family. She visits often and makes it point to be a constant presence in the children’s lives. She is committed to ensuring they know that she’s “not going anywhere” and that she intends to see them through the victories and trials they have ahead. She is excellent at building relationships with parents and caregivers and goes out of her way to make sure their needs are heard, validated, and promptly attended to.

Alex’s CASA family found themselves in need of meal support this past month. The family had been in contact with local pantry resources and were unsuccessful in fulfilling their need. The advocate stepped in, reached out to fellow advocates for advice, and ultimately found a pantry resource willing to provide the groceries needed to get the family through the week. Her persistence and determination met a critical need for the family and spoke volumes to her dedication to do whatever was needed to ensure successful outcomes for the children involved!

Aside from her role as an advocate, Alex is one of CASA’s biggest cheerleaders! She attends new advocate graduations to congratulate and welcome the newest CASAs. She brings her own friends to CASA 101 sessions to introduce potential advocates to CASA, and serves as part of the Community Resources Committee, ultimately committed ensuring all of our families and children have access to the resources and services they need.

Alex is truly a one-of-a-kind gem of a volunteer and CASA is lucky and grateful for her heartfelt, joyful service to our mission!
