Advocate of the Month – May 2021

THE MAY ADVOCATE OF THE MONTH IS:

Liane Murphy!

This month’s Advocate of the month is Liane Murphy (who goes by the name Murphy). We were fortunate to have Murphy come over from San Antonio CASA to our CASA program in 2020. After completing her training and being sworn in, she accepted her first case in Walker County. Her CASA child is a young boy diagnosed with a Global delay, and since being assigned to his case Murphy has met with him every month. She requested to visit with him more frequently but was denied by the Care Provider. Nonetheless, it wasn’t very long after her initial visit a bond was formed over spicy chicken nuggets from McDonalds.

Murphy is an observant and intuitive person, and this has made her a wonderful advocate. When Murphy accepted her case, it was in the early phases of being transferred to the Adoptions unit. In her support of this process, Murphy has left no stone unturned in finding her CASA child a forever home. She has reached out to therapists, teachers, and other important parties to ensure that the absolute best home is found.

In addition to her amazing advocacy work, Murphy is quick to turn in detailed court reports that need little to no correction. She is very thorough in gathering information to ensure that whatever she is advocating for is done based off knowledge she has firsthand. Murphy also rarely misses an opportunity to grow in her role as a CASA. She has attended many of our in-services as well as doing her own research to benefit how well she advocates for her child. We are so lucky to have her as a CASA with our program and feel so hopeful for the future of this young boy because of the work that Murphy has done and continues to do.
