Advocate of the Month- APRIL 2023

THE april ADVOCATE OF THE MONTH IS:

brigett allen!

Please join us in celebrating the April Advocate of the Month, Brigett Allen! To say that Brigett goes above and beyond would be an understatement. She is the advocate on two cases, each in different counties, serving a total of five children and their families. Brigett has spent many hours talking to parents, grandparents, and extended family members. She stays in close contact with the children’s caseworkers, attorneys, teachers, and others related to the cases. In her initial case, she saw the children in separate placements, and again immediately after they were placed in a foster home together, which resulted in more than her once-a-month requirement for visits. Brigett also made it a point to accompany the caregivers to the hospital when one of the children required surgery.  The first day she was assigned to her second case, Brigett contacted the caseworker, the caregiver, and the teenage girl. She was cognizant of the fact that she needed to establish communication and a rapport with them early on, especially the teenager. After being on the case for only a week, Brigett had already made plans to visit the children in their placement 350 miles away! Brigett is also very involved in our CASA program as a whole. She serves on the San Jacinto Outreach Committee and volunteers at many of our functions and events. Recently, she, along with fellow advocates, helped us unpack and “set up shop” in our new office. Brigett is pictured here with a beautiful journal she made by hand as a gift for the teenager in her case.
