2023 Advocate of the Year – Nominee #3

ADVOCATE OF THE YEAR

NOMINEE #3 Dave hopper

Dave became a CASA in September of 2021 and has really blown us away with his advocacy skills. Although he is quiet and mild-mannered, that does not take away from his ability to advocate zealously for the families he serves. He has been with our program for a year and a half and has already been assigned to four cases, three of which are his current assignments. Those three cases have Dave advocating for three boys and travelling to court in two different counties! Each of these cases has its own individual needs which can sometimes make for a very busy month for Dave. Nonetheless, he stays organized with all his court dates, meetings, family contacts, etc., so that every child is getting the attention he deserves. In fact, Dave has been known to sometimes make multiple contacts for a single case in one month.

Dave’s attention to detail and persistence is also something to be noted. In one of his cases, the child was being moved 2 to 3 times a month due to his mental health. This made it difficult for Dave to stay in contact with the child; but in true Dave fashion, it never hindered him from completing his monthly face to face visit with this child. In another case, he persevered in his recommendation for speech therapy until the child was finally provided this much needed service.

Dave doesn’t let any grass grow under his feet, and we are so thankful for advocates like Dave who learn their cases inside and out. Each of these young men are fortunate to have Dave in their corners and we at CASA are proud to call him ours.
