2023 New Advocate of the Year – Nominee #4

NEW ADVOCATE OF THE YEAR

NOMINEE #4 Lyle & Lauren Lohner

The fourth nominee for New Advocate of the Year goes to Lyle and Lauren Lohner, a husband-and-wife advocate team who have been married for ten years, love to travel with their Great Pyrenees, and both work for TDCJ. Despite their full and busy lives, they still find time to pour so much of themselves into their case.

Their assigned children were moved five times during the first three months of the case. While this unfortunate set of circumstances was out of their control, the Lohners made sure that the children saw a familiar face within the first few days at each new placement. Lyle and Lauren have been the one constant in these children’s lives. New to the Lone Star State, the Lohners have been on a tour of East Texas!

Besides being flexible and persistent, the Lohners have gone above and beyond in their advocacy by locating and delivering furniture to the children’s mother, counseling their mom on financial literacy, and helping her access essential services. Lyle and Lauren also stay in close contact with teachers, therapists, and caseworkers. In addition to their amazing advocacy, they regularly attend in-services and volunteer within the CASA program. Lyle and Lauren epitomize excellence in advocacy, and we are blessed that they are part of the CASA family.
